Cool Story: I had seen pictures of a 1939 Mercury four door sedan in a junk yard in Nebraska. Thought it would be neat to build, but shortly after this car came up on auction in Altoona. My father and I drove up and looked it over. I really liked it and it was much closer. We bid on the car and won. We went and trailered it home a few days later. I worked a few nights and got it to run. My father and I went through all the brakes getting them to work. My father took it for a test drive and it died. It wouldn’t restart until fully cooled down. We decided to pull the intake and head. When we did it showed the engine needed rebuilt. So we pulled the engine and brought it to Arnold Motor Supply in Oskaloosa Iowa to be machined. We tore apart a Mercury Flathead to get the crank and rods. When the engine was done being machined my father and I rebuilt the engine together. While the engine was out and being worked on I lowered the original front and rear suspension. I added turn signals. Once rebuilt it ran and drove great. The following spring I installed Red’s Headers and brought it to Fred’s Muffler to have exhaust installed. Over the next few years fixed up the interior, required the car and added various parts. The winter of 2014/2015 I removed the stock rear end and suspension. I installed a Chassis Engineering dual leaf setup with a 9 inch Ford rear end out of a mid 1960’s Ford pickup. I then removed the stock transmission installed a Offenhouser transmission adapter and a Borg Warner T-5 transmission. I had Fast Shafts build me a driveshaft. This has now made the car a much better driver. The steering wheel has been replaced with a late 1950’s Ford pickup steering wheel. The seat covers are original 1947 Ford seat covers.
